It’s OFFICIAL

I am now a REAL resident of Idaho!

I finally broke down and went and got my Idaho drivers license today. Lance and Kirk got theirs the first week they moved here. When I heard a written test was in order, I procrastinated a few months. A test? Yuck! What person my age wants to take a test? So what’d I do? I googled practice tests galore this morning and took several. I felt very confident I knew what I thought were important Idaho laws. Why am I blogging about getting my license? I guess I feel it was a big step for me. For the last 2 months I joked that I wanted to see if I liked it here before surrendering my Alabama license, when the truth was, I didn’t want to fail the test. I didn’t want to study either, so not doing anything worked for me… except I hate having things looming. What’s the saying? Worry often gives a small thing a big shadow.

Looking at the big picture, it’s actually a good thing they ask new people in the state to take a test. maybe we’ll actually pay attention and drive better because of it. I almost freaked out when the first question was about the Open Range (Horses, cattle, sheep, goats, and other livestock under controlled movement over a highway or road have the right of way in Idaho).

The photo was your typical ‘ugh, I hate it’ one. I told the truth about my weight. Hey, it’s not too late in life to make an honest citizen of myself. The good news is, it’s good for 8 years, YeeHa! Maybe when I’m 58, I’ll actually appreciate the photo. A lady I met today from Arizona said she’s not going to surrender her AZ license because when she got it, it was good for 50 years! Really? That doesn’t seem right.

The DMV ladies were all nice and seemed to take an interest in each applicant. The level of niceness here still amazes me. I was annoyed by some of the applicants and I didn’t have to deal with them 5 days a week, 8 hours a day. I was a tiny bit disappointed when there was no fanfare over my PERFECT score on the test! Surely kudos should have been given. *sigh*, maybe that’s too much to ask.
No shame here. I’ll just blog about it and brag about my gold star performance. Remind me to tell my future grandkids about it ;-).

Another nice day in northern Idaho. God provided some celebratory scenery for me on my way home~>
