Love, Knives & Lance

How’s that for a title?  If I don’t record all the day-to-day little funnies, I tend to forget them…

A couple days ago in our living room I ask, “What’s the best tool to use to carve something in a tree?” Lance is THE go-to-guy about tools. Tim the Toolman Taylor has nothing on my husband. He’s use to me asking for items that are neatly tucked away (labeled and categorized defines it best) in our bigass pole barn, so I thought there was nothing odd about the query. He replies to my wood carving question, “Probably a utility knife.” Then I ask the dumb question, “Do we have one?” (of COURSE we have one, we prolly have 6). He reaches into a basket by the wood-burning stove and  pulls out the utility knife (which looks an awful lot like a box cutter). And in true Lance form he asks, “and WHY are we having this conversation?”

Ok, so maybe only those that know him will be amused by that. Maybe only I am amused by that.

I had this brilliant plan to carve a heart with our initials in a birch tree for a Valentines surprise, or at the very least, a cute photo for a post. I abandoned the idea when I realized the web images are so much cooler than I could do (evidence clearly seen in the moose poop heart, a few posts ago). I haven’t abandoned the tree carving idea. I’m still searching for that perfect birch to vandalize, I mean engrave our undying love into. Maybe I’ll ask for a wood-carving kit for our 1st anniversary.

I love my significant other, JLK + MKP = 😀
