Our 2nd Solar System Update
Solar system technology has advanced much over the past 10 years, and has become significantly cheaper. We are working to update Our 2nd Solar System with newer LFP batteries, and add full redundancy.
Components
The updated system includes the original 2nd solar system, with the following additions and changes:
- Replaced the original commercial 48V FLAB with 2 EG4 LFP 51.2V (48V nominal) battery enclosures, with a total capacity of 61.44kWh (49.15kWh usable @ 80% DOD):
- 6 LiFePOWER4 modules, 5120Wh, totalling 30,720Wh (24,576Wh usable @ 80% DOD)
- 6 LL V2 modules, 5120Wh, totalling 30,720Wh (24,576Wh usable @ 80% DOD)
- IN PROCESS: Adding an EG4 Chargeverter 5KW 48V to stabilize generator charging
- IN PROCESS: Adding 2 EG4 6000EX-48HU Inverter/Chargers as a backup system
- Micro-PC setup with BMS Test & BMS Tools to monitor EG4 battery modules, and TeamViewer for remote access

Work-Around For EG4 LL V2 Daisy-Chain Not Working With BMS Tools
Though the EG4 LL V2 battery modules do not support BMS Tools being able to read a daisy-chain, there is another way.
I Will Not Miss This
This industrial flooded lead acid battery (FLAB) has been a real work horse for me, but I will not miss it.

I just can’t believe this! This is a serious down-grade from the EG4 LiFePower4.
