Rain, Rain, Go Away

If it wasn’t for the weather, what would we have to talk about, complain about, BLOG about?

Just so happens, our area had a record-breaking month of March as far as rain accumulation is concerned. As of this morning, we beat the rainfall record held 96 years ago. Oh, joy. There are 2 full days and nights to go before it’s April. It’s hard to get excited about this kind of weather (record breaking or not). I am thankful there is no flooding, yet. Our little cabin sits pretty high up from the nearby lake, if it floods, we’re all in trouble!

My walking buddy showed up today for our hike. As you can see from the above photo, he got a little impatient, waiting for me to get my wet weather gear on. How could I not take a hike today? Brewskie continues to amuse and annoy me, much like the weather. Seems we all have something to complain about. I do try to be more thankful than complainful (yes, my dear sweet hubby, I know that’s not a real word).

May you always have walls for the winds,
a roof for the rain, tea beside the fire,
laughter to cheer you, those you love near you,
and all your heart might desire.

Irish Blessing

I’m thankful for our walls, the tin roof, the wood burning stove, and the fact that my son comes to visit next week! There is no point checking the weather to see if the rain will subside. The weathermen up here are just as lame as where you are. I have better luck watching mountain man Mike ride by on his ATV. If he’s got his Carhart coveralls on, I know I need to bundle up. If he’s sporting his brimmed rain hat, I know to bring my umbrella. Imagine my delight when Lance pointed out that Mike shaved off his winter beard. Spring MUST be just around the corner!!

The trouble with weather forecasting is that it’s right too often for us to ignore it and wrong too often for us to rely on it.
